Films Screened Previously on "Biograph Sunday"

Every week at www.gunjones.com I post a short from D.W. Griffith's Biograph company (or the American Mutoscope and Biograph company; aka "AB")
on the main page; on Sunday, starting no later than 8 am PST and continuing till 6 pm PST.
Films are selected more or less randomly, and such as have already been screened by us are posted on this "previously viewed" page, with pertinent YouTube links.

Films already shown:
1. For Sunday, June 13, 2010 -- "AS IT IS IN LIFE" (1910)
2. For June 20, 2010 -- "THE VOICE OF THE VIOLIN" (1909)
3. For June 27, 2010 -- "ENOCH ARDEN" (1911)
4. For July 4, 2010 -- "IN THE BORDER STATES" (1911)
5. For July 11, 2010 -- "ONE IS BUSINESS, THE OTHER CRIME" (1913)
6. For July 18, 2010 -- "THE FEMALE OF THE SPECIES" (1912)
7. For July 25, 2010 -- "AN UNSEEN ENEMY" (1912)
8. For Aug. 1, 2010 -- "KATCHEM KATE" (1912)
9. For Aug. 8, 2010 -- "HOUSE OF DARKNESS" (1912)
10. For Aug. 15, 2010 -- "THE MENDER OF NETS" (1912)
11. For Aug. 22, 2010 -- "THE TRANSFORMATION OF MIKE" (1912)
12. For Aug. 29, 2010 -- "THE LAST DROP OF WATER" (1911)
13. For Sept. 5, 2010 -- "THE MUSKETEERS OF PIG ALLEY" (1912)

For specific credits for a given film, search under the film's title at The Internet Movie Database (IMDb). Note, however, that when these shorts were originally
released, general audiences would not (as a matter of company policy) be told or informed who the players were.
Also, the Biograph films shown on YouTube do not always come from the best prints or video transfers possible; nor is the music used always terribly inspired
as a choice for accompanying the given film. Many, naturally, do not need to have this explained to them, but for the benefit of those who may not already know,
we can at least make the remark.

For stock alternative music that can be played with many silent films, see http://www.gunjones.com/biogr-music.html To use, click on this link while keeping a separate page available to watch the film. Turn on the music of choice then simply return to the "film" page to watch the movie (with sound turned off on the audio there.) It's a very rough approach, I admit, yet far better than some of the sometimes very awkward and out of place soundtracks used for some of the silent film videos (such as those used for the Biograph films) found on YouTube.
